Post Rabies Exposure Prophylaxis

Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) consists of wound treatment, the administration of rabies vaccines based on WHO recommendations, and if indicated, the administration of rabies immunoglobulin.

The wound should be treated in a timely and correct manner, strictly disinfected, the risk of the wound should be assessed. Then Rabies Vaccine should be vaccinated according to the results. Five-dose rabies vaccine should be carried out on D 0-3-7-14-28 respectively. The vaccination site: adults are injected intramuscularly in the deltoid muscle of the upper arm, and for children, it is recommended to inject the vaccine into the muscle at anterolateral thigh. During the vaccination period, you must pay attention to rest, keep in a light diet, do not drink alcohol, and do not exercise vigorously.
